Eira Residence  - Mendocino County, California, U.S.

Set deep within the quiet, towering forests of Mendocino County, this contemporary residence is a study in contrast. The exterior is defined by a bold Corten steel beam system and an intricate architectural screen that softens the monolithic presence of the concrete- stone blocks. Upon entering, the home opens into a vast, light-filled living area where overhead metal beams and dual fireplaces provide a sense of honest structure and spatial rhythm. Massive floor to ceiling glass panels dissolve the boundary between the interior and the forest, leading to a sprawling rear terrace featuring a reflective pool, and outdoor kitchen, and a discreetly integrated professional tennis court. The home's main level is meticulpusly designed to balance luxury and introspection. Two primary luxury suites are located on the the main level, both offer deep soaking tubs and amenities oriented toward the beautiful landscaping. A separate guest house ensures seclusion for guests and visitors. Below the main floor, the residence transitions into a dedicated recreational hub housing a gym, private theater, game room and an additional guest bedroom, emphasizing a sense of retreat. The seamless four car garage is also located underground, maintaining the purity of the site's disciplined palette of steel, concrete, and glass. Ultimately, the design functions as a grounded sanctuary where industrial materials meet and amplify, rather than compete with the surrounding environment.
